Graduate students Oh Ho-Kwon and Jang Ye-lim at the LANL-JBNU Engineering Institute-Korea were honored with the “Best Paper Award” at AeroNDT2023: the 14th International Symposium on NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Aerospace. Oh delivered the useful results of impedance matching techniques enhancing the efficiency of ultrasonic sensors. Jang was recognized for her research using a laser ultrasound system to inspect the condition of SPR (Self-Piercing Rivet). Professor Kang Lae-hyong, who oversaw their research, stated, “Our laboratory is developing technologies for the safety and reliability of various structures whose internal conditions cannot be properly identified.” The LANL-JBNU Engineering Institute-Korea, where Oh and Jang attend, possesses advanced NDT, smart sensor technology, material technology such as composite materials, signal processing and control technology, and data analysis technology based on deep learning.
