Professor Yoo Seung-hwa and research professor Ragnamai Mohapatra in the Department of Quantum System Engineering published a review paper named «Superwetting Materials as Catalysts in Photocatalysis: State-of-the-Art Review». It describes the application of a specific photocatalyst to solve water pollution and was published in «Chemical Engineering Journal», a renowned journal in chemical and environmental engineering. This paper presents the possibility of the application of a “triphasic superwetting photocatalyst” for solving water pollution and promotes understanding of these innovative three-phase (solid, liquid, and air) photocatalysts. Unlike conventional photocatalysts, where the reaction occurs at the solid-liquid interface having low oxygen concentration and slow diffusion speed, three-phase photocatalysts have new possibilities for fast and efficient organic pollutant removal. “These photocatalytic materials are promising, sustainable, and environmentally friendly approaches that can overcome the limitations of existing systems,” Ragnami Mohapatra stated.
