Graduate Student Jin Hae-dam from JBNU Graduate School of Integrated Energy-AI developed surface modification technology using perovskite quantum dots and amphiphilic polymers. Through her research, she discovered that highly-luminous quantum dots ink, which can be dispersed in bio-solvent, can be produced. In addition, she developed a hazardous gas sensor device capable of real-time detection of environmental hazardous gasses, leveraging the gas adsorption characteristics of perovskite quantum dots. While perovskite quantum dots exhibit excellent photoelectrochemical properties, and are actively researched for various photoelectric devices, they face a structural disadvantage of being prone to deformation. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop surface modification technology to improve stability, which is what Jin has accomplished. Jin said, “I am grateful to my advisor who guided the research in a good direction. I will conduct diverse new research in the energy field based on exceptional ideas.”
