JBNU Professor Shin You-jung, from the Department of Science Studies, won an award from the Korean History of Science Society for the National History Contest at Sogang University. In her paper, she revealed the history of how the brain emerged as a primary subject of research in neuroscience in the 1960s Cold War era, and how the field of neuroscience turned multidisciplinary. In August 2023, she was also given an award from The International Society for the History of the Neurosciences for her excellent paper that demonstrated the process and significance of the dissemination of neuroscience in Korea. Shin said, “I expect that these studies, which focus on convergence studies, will have great implications not only in the field of history but also in the field of political science. I will also devote myself to scientific studies that can serve as a bridge between the fields of science and technology and the fields of humanities and society.”
