The JBNU Start-up Education Center, together with LINC 3.0 Business Group, and a project team from JBNU’s Hashtag club, hosted the “2023 6th Corner Edison Idea Discovery Contest” on November 20th. The theme of the contest was “turning ideas into products”. It aimed to cultivate a habit of imagination by tapping into their creative childhood memories and sharing their unique product ideas, all the while reflecting on its potential risks. The contest proceeded in the sequence of idea presentation, a judging round, and the final award. The evaluation criteria were feasibility and business potential (40%), creativity (40%), and technicality (20%). Based on these standards, one team was awarded the “grand prize”, two teams were awarded the “best award”, and three teams were awarded the “excellence award”. The presenter from the grand prize winning team, called “13 trillion”, shared, "We participated in this contest to develop the idea that initially emerged during the creative engineering design activity that we did in the previous semester." The team's idea was an umbrella cover that dries quickly, proposing a new product by altering existing umbrella cover materials. Furthermore, he added, "This contest served as an opportunity to refine and enhance our ideas. Through the preparation for this contest, we were able to create good memories with our team members." The competition provided JBNU students with a platform to freely express their potential and creativity, exploring the possibility of commercializing innovative ideas.
