On July 10th, Cho Hwa-Rim, a JBNU professor of the Department of French Studies and Director of International Cooperation, was awarded the Knight of La Legion d’honneur Chevalier which is the most honorable medal bestowed by the French government. The medal is derived from Napoleon I who awarded soldiers that showed exemplary honor on the battlefield, and France is awarding this medal to French citizens and foreigners who have made contributions to the development of France. Cho was recognized for her various cultural and artistic expressions which highlighted the exchange between Korean and French culture and art. She has also served as a bridge between the two countries in the field of film and video by working on a Baroque video project with Université de Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée and JBNU students. The video was shown in the Louvre Museum.
