JBNU has decided to establish a major next year, which is the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, in order to cultivate talented people in the secondary battery industry. This field is expected to lead to regional development by cultivating talented people to meet corporate demand. Personnel of secondary battery companies will directly participate in the creation of the curriculum to help meet the demand of such companies, and field training will also be conducted. Through the establishment of such a major, it is also expected to contribute greatly to revitalizing the local economy. Yang O-bong, president of JBNU said, "As the region promotes the field of secondary batteries and the infrastructure of Korea's companies is accumulating in the Saemangeum region, it is essential to create a major related to this growing field."
