All about Beer

To unwind at the end of a hard day wine may seem too fancy and soju might be too strong. For most people, beer is their alcohol of choice. Drinking a few beers is also a great way to connect with or make new friends.

Originating from Mesopotamia, beer is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in the world. As people settled and started agriculture, surplus grain was able to be produced and stored year-round. Through this process, the grain fermented, producing in the world’s first alcoholic beverage.

Today, most anthropologists say that is the origin of beer. In the Middle Ages, beer brewing technology was introduced and developed in the monasteries. As cities developed, beer brewing began to spread to citizens. At this time, a movement to create various beers began. In order to maintain quality, the "German Beer Purity Law” was enacted to ensure the use of only malt, water, and hops for brewing. However, outside of Germany, breweries began using cinnamon or orange peels to increase flavor. These unique and aromatic ingredients are still commonly found in craft beers today.

Sulocity

‘Sulocity’ is a brewery in Jeonju Hanok Village. CEO Ryu Sang-woo has been studying beer brewing for over ten years. He focuses on developing Korean beer made with Korean barley. All of Sulocit y ’s beers are made with local barley from the Mangyeong River, under a contract with local farms in Jeonju. Best Ways to Keep Beer

When storing beer, remember just two things; light and temperature . Beer easily goes bad when exposed to light. That is why most beer bottles are dark brown. Canned beer does not spoil from light, but bottled beer must always be placed away from direct sunlight. The quality of a beer can also be greatly diminished by temperature. When storing beer in the refrigerator, it is recommended to keep it cold at four to ten degrees. When the beer freezes slightly, the water in the beer separates from the beer and becomes ice, making it flat. Additionally, lukewarm beer has too much froth and a bitter taste.

Common Sense on Beer

1. Bottled beer and canned beer taste the same. Nevertheless, bottled beer is cheaper because bottles can be reused after being disinfected.
2. Germany is one of the most famous countries for beer. It is possible to drink beer from the age of fourteen in Germany.
3. The beer foam helps to keep beer carbonated and acts as a lid to inhibit the beer's oxidation.

How to Enjoy Beer 100%

1. Drink beer from a glass. Drinking directly from a bottle or can does not have foam, so the beer gradually oxidizes and loses its savor. If you drink it from a glass, you can appreciate the unique flavor, color, and bubbles of the beer.
2. The traditional way to enjoy a refreshing beer is to drink it with only foam left in the glass.
3. It is not recommended to pour beer from a container multiple times. The beer left in the glass has already lost carbonation. Thus, if you pour the beer again, it will not taste as fresh.
4. Although each beer has a recommended temperature, it is recommended to keep it in the refrigerator for three to four hours before drinking in summer and two to three hours in winter.

Moderate drinking helps to smooth relationships. How about a beer with your loved one this summer? “Shall we have a beer?”
