- Honorary Student Ambassadors

CBNU is always crowded with various visitors. Among them, some CBNU students who wear purple uniforms with bright smiles attract people’s attention. They are there to honor CBNU as honorary student ambassadors. Follow this interview to satisfy your curiosity about the ambassadors.

● What was your motive to apply to be an honorary CBNU ambassador?
In fact, I was a model student who just studied hard and did not have enough time to hang out or do extracurricular activities. Thus, I don’t have pleasant memories of high school years. SoI really wanted to make an unforgettable memory at CBNU by doing something special that I could do only as a college student. In addition, I thought being an honorary ambassador could help me to follow my dream to work in the press. Therefore I applied to be an honorary ambassador, taking up my courage, and luckily I was entitled to be one.

● What is your role as an honorary ambassador?
There are three main businesses we have. First, we take photos and make videos of ourselves that can publicize our university. You might have seen our videos through the public TV in every building of CBNU at least once. Also, the photos are published in the CBNU newsletter. Second, we are in charge of assisting in the progression of school ceremonies and events. One of the other important tasks is introducing CBNU to visitors, including foreign school officials. Lastly, we monitor internet articles which are related to CBNU and also manage the CBNU homepage webzine, Facebook, and blog.

● What do you think about the stereotypesof honorary ambassadors?
People used to feel honorary ambassadors should be good-looking and get high grades. However, those are just some factors to build you up as a competent person, not qualifications for being ambassadors. Actually, the things that really matter are ability, responsibility, self-confidence, and school spirit. To carry out the works, we need ability in performing our duties fast and correctly. Also, responsibility is an essential factor to work with other people as a group. We usually deal with huge crowds, so we need self-confidence to speak in front of them. The most important thing is affection for our school. If we don’t have school spirit, we might feel our duties are just stressful things.

● When did you feel pride in yourself as an honorary ambassador?
CBNU has held a concert for alumni in Seoul every year. To help the process of event, honorary ambassadors are also present. We met lots of big alumni and school officials there. Although we had to welcome them, they were more than pleased with our attendance. They were grateful to us for coming all the way to help the progress of the concert representing CBNU. As we take assisting protocol for granted, we were quite moved by their appreciation and proud of ourselves.

● Haven’t you had any difficulties while performing ambassador work?
Of course we have. We have to plan events which promote CBNU widely. Last year, we parodied PSY’s “Gentleman” to “Jeondaeman”. To make the music videos, lots of CBNU students were needed. We were fully committed to cast people from student unions of all colleges to club unions. Then we taught them how to dance and act for two months. As a result, a cool music video was made and it was very well-received. Even though it was really hard work, we were content with the great responses.

● Lastly, do you have anything else to say to your fellow students?
I hope that we ambassadors are not just seen as good-looking people who wear purple uniforms. We want to be regarded as a group that publicizes our university in a positive aspect and uses our ability for CBNU. In addition, I want to advise to students who want to be honorary ambassadors that they should challenge themselves for the chance. We only seek to find a person who has passion for publicizing CBNU.

To make CBNU one of the world’s top 100 schools, honorary ambassadors diligently publicize CBNU either at home or abroad. However, if you have affection and concern for CBNU, you can also be an honorary ambassador. Let’s try to raise the honor of CBNU!
