UPEMLV is a public school that was established in 1991. It is located in a new town called Marne la Vallee. More than 11,000 people go to this university, and UPEMLV offers various kinds of degrees. There are about more than 60 degrees in UPEMLV. In particular, the humanities and engineering fields are very superior to other universities’.
●Exchange Program of UPEMLV
UPEMLV and Chonbuk National University started an agreement with a dual degree program in 2011. According to this agreement, ten students from CBNU go to UPEMLV and twenty students of UPEMLV come to CBNU every year. All students can apply to this exchange student program except the students of veterinary medicine, medical science and dentistry. Usually, you have to submit the exchange student application form before June so you can study in UPEMLV for one or two semesters. Also, for students who are not good at French, UPEMLV offer French classes for free. Later, they can take various kinds of courses like literature, language, and economics according to their ability. In addition, exchange students can experience French culture.
If you decide to go to UPEMLV, you have to send your language ability certificate and recommendation by post. Then be careful! They don’t receive applications by fax or e-mail.

UTBM (University of Technology of Belfort-Montbeliard)
● Information of UTBM
As a technical school, UTBM is located in Belfort, the biggest industrial city of Eastern France. UTBM has two more campuses in Montbeliard and Sevenans. Each campus operatesdifferent departments regarding engineering. UTBM was established in 1999, merging two universities: The University of Belfort and Polytechnic Institute of Sevenans. There are five colleges and four graduate courses of engineering in UTBM at this time, with 7,500 students studying for bachelor’s degrees and 1,200 students studying in graduate school. From a global perspective, UTBM provides high quality of multicultural education and cherishes sharing knowledge with other students. Furthermore, UTBM features a three-year course of an “engineering sandwich program” which is a combination of classroom learning and practical work placement.
● International Exchange Student Program
Since UTBM invests a lot in international relations, it has made alliances with 140 universities from all over the world, including Europe, Canada, and Central Asia. In accordance with this, UTBM plans to progressively increase the number of lectures taught in English. The university also operates an International Mobility Office and Welcome Club for the successful adaptation of exchange students. In particular, there is an Intensive French Course startedtwo or three weeks before the semester for foreign students. They can keep learning French based on five other levels even after the semester begins and can get credits for this as well. International students are also able to get an opportunity to manage the lecture by themselves if the idea for a class or research gets accepted by UTBM faculties.
CBNU and UTBM officially exchange five students each year based on the sisterhood relationship built in 1999. CBNU recruits students every first semester around May, and students who are finally selected will study for two semesters in UTBM. Undergraduate students except those whose majors are in veterinary medicine, medical science or dentistry can apply for the exchange program. Selected students are allowed to take all lectures held in UTBM. For those, CBNU offers a scholarship of around 1.5 million won. Registration fees are covered entirely if you go to UTBM through this CBNU-UTBM exchange program, but you should pay other expenses on your own. To apply for this program, you should download a student application form from the UTBM website and send it by e-mail after filling it out. Then UTBM will give you an acceptance pack when you are accepted fully.
