Professor Park Tae-sik from the Department of Economics was elected as head of the Korea Regional Economic Association (KREA, 한국지역경제학회) February 10th. Park was elected at a general meeting of the institute held in Sung Kyun Kwan University, and he will perform his duties until February 28th, 2011.
Park emphasized the development of the institute through industrial and educational cooperation between the central government, local autonomous entities and local economists.
He also stressed the globalization of the institute through an educational interchange with Zhejiang University of China and the Japan Research Institute. And, he accentuated that he will exercise his every effort to develop research activities and raise the quality of reports on research.
Professor Park was an exchange professor at RICE University in the U.S., a trustee of the Korean Industrial Economics Association, a trustee of the Korean Peninsula politico-economics Institute, and a member of the State Affairs Advisory Committee. Currently, he is performing lots of activities related to economics and is an advisor of Jeonbuk Bank as well as a committee member of the Korea Local Promotion Foundation.
