What is the most important factor when you choose from a menu? Is it taste or plating? This time, the main menu is Japanese food which you can enjoy with eyes first, and taste with mouth second. Are you ready to feel the Japan? Let’s start on a trip through the Yummy Trail!

Are you having difficulties to decide what to eat among Japanese foods? Then, KUISUGI would be a suitable restaurant! KUISUGI has several representative Japanese foods such as Ramen, Tonkatsu, Nabe and Donburi. Among these kinds of foods, Tonkatsu is the most popular menu item at KUISUGI.
* Ramen(ラーメン)
Ramen consists of Japanese noodles with broth and toppings such as fatty slices of pork, boiled eggs and green onion. It was originally imported from China. However, nowadays, ramen is one of the most popular dishes in Japan.
* Tonkatsu(とんかつ)
Tonkatsu is deep-fried breaded pork, known as pork cutlet.
* Nabe(なべ)
Nabe is a Japanese word meaning hot pot, usually referring to all kinds of Japanese hot pot dishes.
* Donburi(丼)
Donburi is the Japanese word for ‘bowl’. This dish consists of cooked rice with one or more toppings. Donburi is named according to the toppings.

1 Pork Tenderloin Cutlet
Pork cutlet is popular food here in Korea too, so it is most likely something you are familiar with. However, Japanese pork cutlet is quite different from Korean style pork cutlet. You can feel the more original taste of pork in Japanese one. I’d like to express this dish, ‘crispy outside, but juicy inside’, because you can taste the tender pork with a crunch bite.
② Pork cutlet with cheese
Inside the pork cutlet, is a delicious gooey cheese filling. If you are a person who doesn’t love cheese that much, it will be a little hard to eat just this for one meal, like finding Kimchi or pickles. However, if you are a cheese-lover, this cheese-alicous tonkatsu would definitely satisfy your appetite! Take a bite, and you can feel the cheese melt in your mouth.
③ Pork cutlet with snow cheese
As seen from the picture, on top of the pork cutlet, slivers of Parmesan cheese are placed. This dish is named after the cheese that resembles snow. You can enjoy pork cutlet with cheese and the sauce, at the bottom of the dish.

There are also other selections of pork cutlet, and different sorts of dishes. If you want to taste other Japanese food, then why don’t you try some?

You can feel the Japanese homestyle meal and neat atmosphere of Japan at IYO-IYO. IYO-IYO has homestyle Japanese cuisine, especially Japanese topped rice.

- What is a Japanese homestyle meal?
Japanese cuisine is typically based on a main entree with side dishes, usually made with pork, fish and fresh ingredients. Here are a few menu descriptions:

1 Karaage don
Gently Deep-fried shrimp and chicken and hot rice is a nice combination. A bowl of soup and side dishes make the greasy taste of fried food go away.

2 Rice covered with steak
This item consists of rice, steak, microgreens, onions, bean sprouts and wasabi. The taste of it is good. However, it depends on the person’s taste since the seasoning of steak is quite salty. So you’d better eat this dish with a lot of vegetables. I think this is popular due to the combination of steak, vegetables and rice are all together in just one bowl.

This place is small, so the restaurant can accommodate only about around 10 people. You’d be better off avoiding the rush hour if you don’t want to wait in line. On the other hand, this feature can be also good side, because the chef and staff can listen well to customer’s voice. Also, customer can feel the amiable atmosphere.

- Location: 237, Gwonsamdeuk-ro, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si
- Business Hours: 11:00 ~ 21:00 (break time: 2:30~ 4:30)
(closed every Sunday & the third Saturday of every month)
- Tel: 063-252-1147

How can we leave out sushi when we talk about Japanese food? Sushi is popular around the world. Dokku-I is a restaurant mainly selling sushi. Unlike the two previously mentioned restaurants, Dokku-I is located in the direction of the New Gate.

- What is sushi?
Sushi is a dish consisting of vinegar-flavored cold cooked rice served garnish with raw fish, vegetables or eggs.

1 Halibut sushi
Rice and halibut matches well. The piece of halibut is long, so you can taste the halibut well. A dipping combination of soy sauce and wasabi is easily available to intensify the flavor of the sushi.

2 Assorted sushi
Do you yearn to eat sushi though you may have a tight pocketbook? Then how about assorted sushi? This menu includes soup, temaki, Udon, 11 pieces of sushi and it costs just 10,000 won, which is quite a decent price.

This restaurant also serves bacon sushi when you order the menu of sushi. The chef and staff are friendly, and the kitchen and tables are in close proximity, so I can feel this restaurant might be sanitary.
